You can't change Newsgroups header for replies, only for new posts.
Is it working for new posts? You need to type them in, no selector.

comma is appended to a default group's name.
As I recall this feature worked fine in DejaNews

What cache are you referring to? What do you mean by "opens"? I really
don't understand what you're describing.

My 4x4 works fine in deep mud. My Hyundai, not so much.

just compose a new post in your group
If you append
Newsgroups field (this time "rocksolid.nodes.help")
with a comma,
help menu opens with previously entered names of newsgroups, 2 lines in
my case (from the cache, since saved by your server)
Try to get this feature implemented by DejaNews from the internet

If I understand you correctly, when you start typing a newsgroup your
browser suggests whatever you typed there previously. If so, that's a
browser feature. It happens with my browsers (Palemoon, Firefox, etc.)

What is the content of that header for replies? Newsgroups or Reply-To
of the original post?

Users can choose to follow the follow-up-To or not.
Reply-To is for mail.

Exactly. If Followup-To is set, you can choose to follow that, or use
the original Newsgroups header. You are presented with this option.

Lol, to the person pasting entire paragraphs into the Newsgroups field,
those posts never propagate. I plan to add some code to rslight to just
reject them, but for now my backend news server does that.
It reminds me of when I worked in Japan years ago. I trained and
repaired large computer controlled industrial equipment. The customers
would always find a way to break the (computer) controllers by entering
all sorts of things there would be no reason to enter, then say, "If you
do this, it breaks"
I realized pretty quickly they were just trying to help me bullet proof
the software, but man was it frustrating!
Btw, I LOVED working with the Japanese for those years! I liked living
in Japan, and the people were great! I miss it. Oh, and the food!!!
