On my site I sometimes see user names with underscores that don't have
them in the original message.

Ok, I see now.

I'm guessing it has something to do with decoding multibit characters. I'll
take a look into it...

I have pushed this to 'devel', available on gitlab now:

Also fixed a bug in search specific to a multibyte issue.
